Make at least 3 drawings/thumbnail sketches in you sketchbook to help you plan for the final collage.
Apply what you have learned about composition when planning your cover and utilize one or more of the design principles in cover.
We will be making the final cover collage in class.
For the final cover collage you can explore the fonts I have provided in the link below OR find magazines, newspapers. You can also type your own title on a computer and choose your own fonts for this assignment.
Assignment: Create a “Mind Map” with some of your goals for Art class. The mind map needs to incorporate a drawing or drawings and text. Consider treating the background page with a watercolor wash first. You can combine collage and drawing if you like.

How can you make a portrait of yourself without showing what you look like?
Our next in class assignment will be to paint a “symbolic self-portrait” homework assignment is to plan for the painting.
Fill a minimum of four pages of your sketchbooks with drawings, symbols, photographs, notes of a variety of THINGS THAT REPRESENT you. Glue collections into your sketch book.
Fill 4 pages of your sketchbook with ideas you have for you painting. The first page can be responses to the questions below, the next three pages should be drawings or photographs of things that represent different aspects of you. You can print out photographs and glue them into your sketchbook.
Write down words that describe you: –A hobby/interest you have? –Your history/culture? –Your dreams/hopes? –What are their initials? –What special items of clothing do you wear all the time? –What is your favorite color? –Where do you spend most of their time? –Is there a written work (prose or poetry) that relates to this person? –Is there a song or type of music that could represent you?

For inspiration, visit the Sketchbook project website. The Sketchbook Project is a library that features more than 31,000 artists' books contributed by people from around the world. They also have a storefront exhibition space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
PORTFOLIO (80%) Gather your artwork and collect it in your portfolio. Photograph all the pieces and save use using Google Drive to backup and store your work. The following projects must be included :
